In 2020 the Vestmannaeyjar Township took over management of Folk Museum from The Research Center of Vestmannaeyjar.
In 2011 the museum got a facelift on the outside, and on the inside all of the exhibits have been redesigned. The latest technology is used to communicate and share the museum’s resources and other materials to visitors.
